UberPool and Incentives

If you were seeking to find a lot of people headed in similar directions, I would suppose ports of arrival would be the best place to find a lot of them. In an airport where thousands of people arrive the odds of finding 3 people who might be headed in the same direction would be high. Much more than anywhere else. Yet, UberPool is not available at the airport!

I wondered why this is?

The only reason I can think of is that they don’t want their drivers waiting. If you put three passengers in one vehicle the number of cabs despatched from the airport will decrease, and the drivers would have to wait longer for a trip.

This is just a case of poor incentives for the company.

All things being constant, it does not make sense for the company to introduce UberPool. But would the number of customers increase if they did?
